About Us
Who Is the Order of the Confederate Rose?
James Madison Tate Sr. (Confederate Solider) and his wife Sarah Elizabeth Clark Tate set the example. Founders of our local Gonzalez area, they built and started our high school (J. M. Tate High), and local church (Gonzalez Methodist). If not for there persistence and love for our community, Pensacola would not be what it is today.

In memory of them: We are the Order of Confederate Rose, Sarah Elizabeth Tate Pensacola Chapter. We will follow the example set by the Tate family in how we should conduct ourselves in our community.

Preserving the history of the South, defending Confederate Symbols from being lost in historic changes. Preserving the Southern Values set by our ancestors like Caring for our community and our neighbors. Reaching out to those in need and the ones who are always there for us in the community.

Our goal is to teach our children the true history of our ancestors, the true meaning of "Southern Values" and the true meaning of caring for others. We will only teach these lessons though our own examples and our own perseverance of defending the things that are being lost, changed and taken away. We do not believe that any part of history should be changed, lost or forgotten.

The Order of the Confederate Rose (OCR) is an independent support group to the Sons of Confederate Veterans (SCV). The OCR was founded in Alabama in 1993 and has quickly spread to other surrounding states. The Society in Florida was chartered in February of 2002. We are a nonprofit, nonracial, nonpolitical and nonsectarian group.

We assist the SCV with their historical, educational, benevolent and social functions. Special emphasis is placed on the preservation of Confederate symbols. Our current project is the Legacy Program. This program has been created to insure that our Southern heritage and culture is deeply rooted in the hearts and minds of our future generations. Order of the Confederate Rose LogoWe are independent support groups to the SCV and local camps thereof. Each State Society has its own bylaws and standing rules. We are nonprofit, nonracial, nonpolitical and nonsectarian.

We assist the SCV with their historical, educational, benevolent and social functions. Special emphasis is placed on the preservation of Confederate symbols. As there are few rules and restrictions to stifle the creativity of its members, each Society is free to focus on the activities important to its members and local SCV Camps along with supporting their efforts on the state and national levels.
